Nagoshinohartae:The day of half closing of the year!




Today,June.30th we have special event for Nagoshinoharae in Kyoto.
It means clean up bad luck of Jan-June and invoke for fortune during July-Dec.
We went to Shine and pass though this big ring three times by traditional way.
After that we picked up one of this grass from this ring and bring it to our house for good luck.
We eat Japanese cake named Minatuki on today,too.
It put some small beans on the top of white triangle confection.
Minatuki is also a old name for June in Japanese.

Heiankyo Sousei-kan


We visited Kyoto city Heiankyo Sousei kan at Kyoto Asney.

It is the center of Heian period exploration. Heiankyo,the imperial capital of Japan was established in Kyoto at 794.We can see reconstruction model of Heian-kyo and the ceramic wall reproduction of Rakucyu Rakugai-zu for folding screen.Especially Rakuchu rakugai-zu painted by Kano Eitoku and it shows in remarkable details the daily life of people in Kyoto.


They are open 9:00am-17:00pm except Tuesday,free of charge.


Enjoy the early history of Kyoto at there.

Landmark of Arashiyama


This bridge:Togetsukyo is a symbolic of Arashiyama .
It was first established during during the Jowa era (834-848) over Katsura river.
It is a best point to take a photo with this sign of the bridge name.

Bunraku(puppet johruri) performance at Nakamuraza theater in Eigamura.


We went to see the Bunraku performance at the Namkuraza theater in Eigamura.They usually performed traditional story ,but this time we saw newly story written by Ms.Setouchi Jakucyo.It is a beautiful love story Portuguese author with Japanese lady.The story is based on an actual person. The puppets was made based on his photograph, it is very true to life. It was touching performance,anyway!

Toei Movie Land:Kyoto Uzumasa Eigamura







Kyoto Uzumasa Eigamura is the theme park for being observe filming of period dramas.
We can freely walk around a film set and enjoy the atmosphere of old Japan.Also you can dressing up Samurai or Geisha and seeing Samurai acrobatic performance show .

Yesterday,this town fully in the people who had in disguise of the animated character like Akihabara. Modern samurais stand out too much in the old town.

If they having slipped at time to Edo priod,they will be killed by real samurai at once!

The rainy season has set in.


I think Kyoto suits with rain.

The hydrangea is seen everywhere of the downtown.
It is with old history written in Manyoshu:Tanka poetry book in about 1200years ago.

Scenery after the rain is also wonderful.

Midorogaike pond in Kita-ku


We went Midorogaike pond today.

There are no flowers,but Duck's parent and children enjoyed relaxing.

They were swimming with a lovely straight back!
